"Together, Let's Rebuild Beirut": L'Orient-Le Jour Joins Forces with Impact Lebanon

Join us.

Dear reader,

In these particularly difficult times for Beirut and for Lebanon as a whole, we are witnessing tremendous expressions of solidarity from across the country and from beyond its borders. These expressions are of the kind that warms the heart and bring an indispensable glow into our night.

A few months ago, we launched a campaign called "Together, Let's Build the Lebanon of To-morrow." Alongside this campaign, and in response to requests by many of you, we opened up the possibility of contributing financially to L'Orient-Le Jour, in a particularly difficult economic and financial context.

Today, the situation has changed, with Beirut having struck in the heart. Since Tuesday's terri-ble tragedy, we have received hundreds of messages from you asking us how to help us and how to help Lebanon.

In response to these requests, coming from all over the world, we decided to join an initiative launched by Impact Lebanon after the August 4 double explosion at the Beirut port. This non-profit organization has launched a campaign to collect donations from the diaspora and then distribute them to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) selected according to a specific set of criteria. Each NGO must be registered in Lebanon, be apolitical, be devoid of any confession-al claim or affiliation and be engaged in helping the August 4 victims.

The NGOs identified at the moment are: The Lebanese Red Cross, Arcenciel and Offre Joie. The aim is also to identify other NGOs currently working in the field.

Today, we are committed to supporting The Impact Lebanon initiative, which we will do, via a dedicated platform, in Lebanon of course, but also around the world, especially through foreign media partners. We have called this campaign "Together, Let's Rebuild Beirut."

Donations collected on the platform set up by L'Orient-Le Jour will be transferred entirely to Impact Lebanon.

Impact Lebanon operates as a social incubator to promote active citizenship through collabora-tion between the diaspora and local entities to make an impact through incremental change in Lebanon.

For the sake of transparency, L'Orient-Le Jour is committed to frequently communicating the amounts that will be collected through its platform.
