A doctor in physical chemistry, Tamara Elzein became the first woman appointed to head the National Council for Scientific Research in Lebanon (CNRS-L) in July 2022, then the UNESCO Science Commission in November 2023. She succeeds Nasser Yassin and is part of the Amal Movement quota.
