Three children were killed in Saudi airstrikes in Yemen, the Houthi news agency Saba reported overnight from Friday to Saturday.

’’The enemy Saudi air force targeted civilian homes’’ in villages in Dhamar governorate, killing three children and injuring 17 others, the agency said. It accused Saudi forces of carrying out the strikes ‘‘using internationally banned cluster bombs.’’

Riyadh conducts daily airstrikes in Yemen in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government against the Iran-backed Houthis. The latter, in turn, have carried out attacks targeting airport and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including one on Oct. 10 that killed 13 people.

Yemen slid back into war in July after years of relative calm. Fighting intensified in September following an offensive by the Iran-backed Houthis in the west of the country.

According to the Houthis, Saudi airstrikes between Sept. 3 and Oct. 15 killed 115 people and wounded 305 others.
