Former United States ambassador to Lebanon, Vincent Battle passed away after choosing to make this country his adopted home and place of retirement. A diplomat on the ground, tireless walker, faithful friend of Lebanon and its people, he leaves behind the image of a man who found his "home" here and dedicated an essential part of his life to understanding, loving and accompanying this country he made his own.He loved this country so much that he chose to retire here, at the end of a dynamic career. He wanted to live surrounded by his countless friends from all walks of life, and to be buried in this beloved Lebanese soil that he traipsed from north to south and east to west, an unstoppable walker and adventurer. As ambassador, he notably encouraged USAID funding for the Lebanon Mountain Trail, a long mountain hiking route...
