Iraqi Airways has resumed flights between Iraq's holy city of Najaf and Iranian airports, Iraq's state news agency reported on Monday.
Iraq had halted flights to and from Iran on Friday, in line with US sanctions.
Earlier on Monday, Reuters reported citing a person with direct knowledge of the matter that U.S. President Donald Trump's administration was considering a limited waiver to its Iran sanctions program to allow for flights carrying Shiite Muslim religious pilgrims between Iran and Iraq.
The source, who is involved in the deliberations, said the U.S. Treasury Department waiver would allow Iraqi Airways to fly to and from the Shiite holy city of Najaf for one month, with a more permanent waiver then potentially coming into place.
