BEIRUT — A personal dispute between two families in the Ruwaissat area of Metn escalated into gunfire on Friday, killing three people and critically wounding another, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The NNA said the injured person was taken to Haroun Hospital in Zalka in critical condition. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident, while the shooter fled the scene and remained at large, according to the agency.

Gun violence remains a concern in Lebanon, where firearms are relatively widespread. Incidents involving firearms can escalate quickly, particularly amid heightened tensions or personal disputes.

On Saturday, two men, one of whom was affiliated with the Future Movement, were killed in a renewed family dispute in Beirut’s Burj Abi Haidar neighborhood, according to a statement from the movement’s Beirut coordination office sent to L’Orient Today.
