For painter Claude Moufarege, an architect and engineer by training, Beirut has remained this idea of home on the scale of a metropolis. Impossible to find elsewhere, with its chaos, its unique light, its improbable layers, its contradictory stories, the city of her childhood has become for her the recurring subject of a memorial painting.Even when hostile or painful, even while living abroad or after traveling the world and choosing another place, there is always that main place one calls "home." In dreams, one finds the smells, the warmth, the maze-like paths, the arrangement.
