President Joseph Aoun condemned the resumption of Israeli attacks on Nabatieh and surrounding towns, denouncing a “dangerous escalation” and holding Israel fully responsible for the violence.
Condemning “the resumption of Israeli attacks on the city of Nabatieh and surrounding towns,” which killed innocent people, Aoun said they went beyond repeated violations of the cease-fire and framework agreements.
He said the attacks now target “Lebanese state institutions and service infrastructure responsible for citizens’ affairs and daily needs, as well as a hospital and health centers.”
President Aoun also referred to the Israeli strike on the Nabatieh Serail on April 19, which killed 19 people, including 13 State Security officers. He said the targeting of the Finance Ministry building, following an earlier strike on a State Security center that killed people, revealed “a persistent pattern of attacks” that goes beyond “alleged military targets to hit purely civilian government offices and health centers.”
The president called on the United States and the international community to intervene urgently to “end these violations and hold those responsible to account.”
