More than a month after the framework agreement was signed between Lebanon and Israel, the Israeli military has significantly ramped up the demolition of infrastructure in southern villages. On Monday night alone, Israel demolished dozens of houses, wiping out an entire neighborhood between Talloussa and Markaba, in the Marjayoun district.It is in this context that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced earlier this month that it had discovered 4,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate near the occupied village of Houla, in the same district. Ironically, the discovery comes just days before the sixth anniversary of the Beirut Port explosion, when several hundred tons of ammonium nitrate detonated, devastating the capital, killing more than 220 people and injuring around 6,500 others.
