NORTH LEBANON — The port of Tripoli announced in a statement that it has welcomed a second container ship capable of carrying 15,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (standard size) at its terminal, the CMA CGM D’Artagnan, which measures 366 meters — the same as the CMA CGM Eugénie, which marked a milestone about two weeks ago.
The CMA CGM Monte Cristo, which is of the same size, has also dropped anchor at the country’s second largest port in recent days.
"This is a clear indicator of the qualitative transformation underway at the port of Tripoli, as well as the growing confidence the CMA CGM Group places in it as a main hub for its maritime services in the eastern Mediterranean basin," the port infrastructure management wrote. It is the second largest port after Beirut and the only one in the country equipped with a container terminal and giant cranes.
