BEIRUT — The Israeli army on Wednesday issued evacuation orders to all residents of the city of Sour, as well as nearby Palestinian camps, villages and neighborhoods, in a message published around 4 p.m. which included a map of the area concerned.
Only two coastal districts — one predominantly Christian and the other predominantly Muslim — were not included in the map, which otherwise covers the city’s entire outskirts, including Shabriha, Hamadieh, Jal al-Bahr, Zokak al-Mafdi, Buss, Maashouk, Burj al-Shemali, Nabaa, Hosh, Ain Baal and the Rashidieh Palestinian refugee camp.
"For your safety, you must immediately evacuate your homes in the area indicated on the map and head north of the Zahrani River," the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson wrote on X.
Earlier in the day, around noon, the Israeli army issued a similar mass evacuation order for the city of Nabatieh, renewing an unprecedented directive first announced the previous day against the southern city, which had never before been ordered to fully evacuate since the resumption of the war on March 2.
