BEIRUT — The village of Deir Qanoun al-Nahr (Sour district) on Thursday buried victims of the Israeli massacre carried out two days earlier, in which a strike on a house killed 14 people, including four children and three women.

The funeral procession departed from Jabal Amel Hospital in the city of Sour and was received in the village square by residents and the victims' relatives, notably in the presence of Amal Movement MP Ali Khreiss and the town's imam, Sheikh Mojtaba Kassir, who led the funeral prayer, according to the National News Agency (NNA).

The bodies were transported in ambulances from the Islamic Health Committee (affiliated with Hezbollah) and the Islamic Mission Scouts Association (Rissala, affiliated with Amal). They were later buried in the village cemetery under the sound of warplanes and drones overhead, the agency said.

The head of the municipal council, Ali Kassir, had told our correspondent in south Lebanon, that the victims included 11 members of the same family from the village, as well as a Syrian couple whose son was wounded. The toll from a single strike is among the highest since the cease-fire began on April 17.

The truce has not halted Israeli strikes, which continue mainly in south Lebanon and the Bekaa, nor attacks by Hezbollah. In recent days, Hezbollah has also reported renewed fighting with the Israeli army in south Lebanon.
