Trump says he suspended planned Tuesday attack on Iran
President Donald Trump said Monday that he had called off an attack on Iran planned for Tuesday following a request from Gulf leaders, adding that “serious negotiations” are underway.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the United States remains prepared to launch a “full-scale attack on Iran at any moment” if an acceptable agreement is not reached with Tehran.
He said the request to suspend the military operation came from the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, whom he said believe a deal remains possible.
The agreement under discussion is intended to ensure that Iran does not acquire a nuclear weapon, Trump wrote, without providing further details.
“For Iran, time is running out, and they had better move quickly, otherwise there will be nothing left of them,” Trump warned Sunday in another Truth Social post.
Tehran said Monday it had responded to a new U.S. proposal aimed at ending the Middle East war that began Feb. 28. A fragile cease-fire has been in place since April 8, but the positions of the two sides reportedly remain far apart.

The same source said the UAE and Bahrain support renewed strikes “each for their own reasons.” It added that some Gulf countries view the UAE as “a spoiled child that has lost its temper and reason.”
On the nuclear issue, the source said Iran has refused, or still refuses, to transfer its enriched uranium out of the country, instead proposing to dilute it domestically. It added that Tehran is willing to accept a 10-year moratorium on enrichment, while the United States is demanding a 20-year freeze, according to Haaretz.

US official says Iran proposal insufficient, risks renewed war, Axios reports
The White House believes Iran’s updated proposal for a deal to end the war offers no meaningful improvement and remains insufficient to reach an agreement, a senior U.S. official and another source familiar with the matter told Axios.
The senior official added that if Iran does not change its position, the United States would have to continue negotiations “through bombs.” Axios also reported, citing two U.S. officials, that President Donald Trump is expected to convene his full national security team in the Situation Room on Friday to review military options.
While Iranian state media earlier reported that the United States had agreed to lift some oil sanctions as part of talks, the U.S. official said no sanctions relief would be granted “for free,” without reciprocal Iranian action. The official also said the Iranian counterproposal, delivered to the United States via Pakistani mediators, contained only symbolic changes compared with the previous version.

US senator calls on Trump to reignite the war against Iran and ‘destroy its energy infrastructure’
Far-right Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, an influential supporter of Donald Trump, has urged the U.S. president to resume strikes against Iran, targeting in particular “its energy sites,” until Tehran accepts U.S. conditions in the nuclear negotiations.
“The energy infrastructure is their weak point,” he told NBC. “If we resume the fight, I would put energy at the top of the list,” he added.
Asked to elaborate, Graham went further, asserting that repeating the same approach as before would only produce the “same result.” “Hurt them even more. Perhaps they will accept a deal if you hurt them enough. But for now, I think they are trying to buy time. I think they are playing a game. And to quote the President, I think they are mad,” he said.
Any attack on sites considered essential for civilian populations is a serious violation of international law.

Despite these tensions, diplomatic channels have not been completely severed, and Pakistan’s Home Minister, Mohsin Naqvi — whose country is attempting to act as a mediator — met in Tehran with Iran’s chief negotiator and Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
In a social media post following the meeting, Ghalibaf offered no conciliatory words.

Trump: 'Nothing will remain of Iran'
Donald Trump has issued fresh threats to annihilate Iran, two and a half months after the start of the war against Tehran, whilst a drone crashed near a nuclear site in the UAE, triggering a further rise in oil prices on Monday.
“Nothing will remain” of Iran if the country does not reach an agreement with the United States soon, the U.S. president warned on Sunday on his Truth Social platform, whilst the two countries have not spoken directly since talks in Pakistan in mid-April.
“Time is running out for Iran,” Donald Trump warned. The Iranians “would do well to act quickly, otherwise there will be nothing left of them,” added the Republican billionaire, who had already threatened in early April to wipe out “an entire civilization," before agreeing a cease-fire with Tehran.
