The Israeli army continued its deadly attacks in the Nabatieh district on Monday, killing several people in Zibdin in the afternoon.
Among the victims were two Bangladeshi workers and a Syrian who were working in a house targeted by an airstrike, as well as two municipal volunteers who were delivering bread to residents who remained in the village, according to information from our correspondent in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli drone strike on the municipal van was described as a "catastrophe" by Zibdin municipal president Ali Saad, who said the vehicle was targeted as soon as it entered the village, our correspondent reported.
The two people killed, Yahya and Hussein Qobeissi, were on a "humanitarian mission." One was a municipal employee, and the other, a friend helping with the distribution.
Israeli evacuation orders in Bekaa, deadly strikes in Toul, Ebba
More broadly, the Nabatieh region came under repeated bombardment and artillery fire beginning at dawn. Residents of five of its villages (Jarjou, Kfar Roummane, Nmeirieh, Arab Salim, and Harouf) were ordered to evacuate their homes and move “at least 1,000 meters toward open areas,” according to a message on X from the Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee.
The Israeli army also issued evacuation orders for Rihan (Jezzine), Jmaijmeh (Bint Jbeil), as well as Mashghara (Bekaa) and Qalaya (West Bekaa), two localities where residents had not been previously called to evacuate since the announcement of the very fragile cease-fire in mid-April.
An Israeli strike was reported in the afternoon on a house in Qalaya, with no casualties, according to our correspondent in the region.
The village of Toul (Nabatieh district) was also heavily bombarded by the Israeli army on Monday morning, with strikes killing at least two people. One of the attacks wounded two rescuers from Hezbollah's Islamic Health Committee.
Another deadly attack occurred in Ebba, in the same district, where an Israeli strike on their home killed Najia Kanso and her grandson Fadl Tarhini. The two were originally from Doueir, our correspondent reported.
Finally, an Israeli strike on Haris (Bint Jbeil district) targeted a car, killing one person and injuring another, according to our correspondent in southern Lebanon. The victim is a young man named Mohammad Darwich; his brother, Yahya, was wounded.
Originally from Qobeiyat in Akkar, they were killed while inside their car, according to our correspondent. Haris village, which is regularly targeted, is not within the "buffer zone" de facto designated by Israel last month.
The Israeli bombardment continued in the late afternoon and evening over Zawtar Gharbieh, Doueir, Mayfadoun, Adsheet, as well as Qseibeh (Nabatieh district), Kafra and Haris (Bint Jbeil district), and Debaal and Zibqine (Sour district).
In Srifa, in the Sour district, an Israeli strike on a clinic affiliated with the Ministry of Health killed a rescue worker.
A missile also landed in Doueir without exploding.
One Israeli soldier dead and others injured
Hezbollah, for its part, continued its attacks against Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon, carrying out three assaults on the so-called Baydar al-Faqani area, in Taybeh, a village in the eastern sector occupied by Israeli forces. The group said it launched attack drones that caused casualties.
The first two were launched at around 6 a.m., 10 minutes apart, at “an Israeli force positioned inside a house.” The third, following the same method, targeted “reinforcements” sent by the Israeli army.
“A helicopter was dispatched to evacuate the wounded, under heavy smoke and gunfire coverage,” according to the party. It also claimed a surface-to-air missile was fired at a drone over the Sour region. Towards the end of the day, the movement ramped up its attacks, using suicide drones carrying explosives.
The Israeli army, in turn, said that an Israeli military helicopter had been immobilized in southern Lebanon due to a technical failure, adding that another helicopter was dispatched to evacuate wounded soldiers. The Israeli army claimed the helicopter had not been hit by Hezbollah fire and that air force technical teams had repaired the problem, allowing the aircraft to take off safely.
It remains unclear whether the reported incident refers to the Hezbollah attack the day before in Taybeh. The Israeli military broadly reported several attacks by the group against Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon, which they said did not result in casualties.
On Sunday evening, the Israeli army announced the death of one of its soldiers, Chief Warrant Officer (reservist) Alexander Glovanyov, 47, killed “in combat near the Lebanese border” during the day. He was “lead vehicle driver in the 6924th transport battalion,” according to the Israeli army, which did not specify where he died.
In total, 19 Israelis have been killed in Lebanon, including 18 soldiers and one contractor working for the army, since the war began on March 2, according to an AFP tally.
Over the same period, Israeli attacks have killed over 2,869 people in Lebanon and injured 8,730 others, according to the Health Ministry. Since the last update published Sunday, 23 people have been killed.
