The Litani National Authority said Saturday it is continuing rehabilitation work on damaged infrastructure in the Arzi area (Saida district) as part of the Qasmieh irrigation project.

“Technical teams are installing steel reinforcements for the base and walls of a culvert, in preparation for pouring concrete and constructing a new structure to replace the one destroyed during Israeli strikes. This work is part of an emergency plan aimed at ensuring the timely start of the irrigation season and maintaining the water supply for agricultural land despite difficult conditions,” the statement said.

“Teams are working in very dangerous circumstances, under continuous airstrikes and security threats, racing against time amid the risk of new attacks or further damage to completed work,” it added.

The main canal and sections of the network in the Arzi area suffered major damage, including the destruction of parts of the pipeline, as a result of Israeli airstrikes. This damage disrupted the water supply to large areas of the southern coast during a critical period, threatening agricultural production.

The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel intensified on March 2 before a fragile cease-fire took effect on April 17. Despite this, Israel continues daily strikes, while the party carries out attacks against Israeli soldiers and equipment in southern Lebanon.
