The National Litani Authority, in collaboration with the engineering department of the Lebanese Army, "is undertaking the construction of a mobile-span bridge over the river in the Tayr Filsay area (Sour) to facilitate the return of citizens to their home regions and to ensure a vital connection between the north and south banks of the river," the institution said in a statement published Saturday by our correspondent in the region.
"This initiative is part of a series of emergency measures adopted by official authorities to reconnect affected areas and ensure the continuity of traffic, in order to meet humanitarian and economic needs during this critical period," the statement continued.
The Israeli army bombed all the bridges that connect the south of the Litani to the north of the river during its offensive in Lebanon, hindering the return of many displaced people to their homes since the April 16 cease-fire. The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel began on March 2, and the cease-fire was declared for ten days, thanks to the mediation of American President Donald Trump. The war displaced more than 1.2 million people from South Lebanon, the southern suburbs of Beirut, and some areas of the Bekaa.
