Reports of 3 Hezbollah members captured in Bint Jbeil, according to Israeli media

BEIRUT — Israeli media reported Tuesday that Givati Brigade forces of the Israeli army captured three Hezbollah fighters last night in the besieged city of Bint Jbeil, and that the commander of this brigade was filmed within the boundaries of the southern Lebanese border city, which is in the heart of the combat zone between Israel and Hezbollah, at war since March 2.

"During clashes with a Hezbollah cell, one member was hit and seriously wounded; two others were more lightly injured, threw down their weapons and surrendered," wrote journalist Hallel Bitton Rosen of Channel 12 on his X account.

Neither the Israeli army nor Hezbollah immediately commented on the capture. However, the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, had posted photos Monday night on X of two men in a blurred village with their hands in the air, in response to a phrase from a speech by the leader of the militia party, Naim Qassem, who claimed Hezbollah fighters would fight “until their last breath.” It was not immediately clear if these photos were related to the capture reported by Channel 14.

The photo showing a soldier presented as the brigade commander posing in front of a memorial was shared by Channel 12 as well as other media outlets and social media accounts. The memorial is a wall displaying photos of people, presumably Hezbollah fighters, and features a movement logo. The name of the city is written in Arabic.

According to our correspondent in South Lebanon, this monument is not located "at the heart" of the city but rather on its outskirts.

The Israeli army said Monday that it had encircled Bint Jbeil and captured the stadium where former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had delivered his victory speech after the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000, as Lebanon is set to negotiate a direct truce with Israel Tuesday in Washington.
