BEIRUT — The simultaneous Israeli strikes carried out within ten minutes on this "Black Wednesday" across Lebanon killed 357 people, the Health Ministry said Friday, bringing the death toll to 1,953 since the war between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah began on March 2.
The new toll reports "357 martyrs and 1,223 wounded," the ministry said in a statement, noting that "this tally is not final," as search operations in the rubble and victim identification are ongoing.
The deadly Israeli strikes on April 8, 2026, targeted densely populated residential neighborhoods that had so far been spared in Beirut and other regions.
