BEIRUT — Cabinet announced Wednesday that the Masnaa border crossing in the Bekaa, between Lebanon and Syria, will be reopened by 6 p.m., according to a statement relayed by the state-run National News Agency.

The crossing has been closed since last Saturday, following Israeli threats that were not carried out.

The statement emphasized “the preservation of the security of travelers and goods,” adding that the crossing “is equipped with the necessary facilities to prevent smuggling.”

The Israeli army threatened to carry out strikes against Masnaa last Saturday night, claiming it was being used by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons. International contacts led by Lebanese authorities, in particular with the United States, reportedly prevented the attacks from being carried out.
