It is a tense Holy Week for Syria's Christians. On Friday night in Suqaylabiya, a predominantly Orthodox city in western Hama, dozens of armed men from the nearby village of Qala'at al-Madiq arrived on motorcycles, opened fire on houses, and ransacked several businesses. The attack reportedly broke out after a fight between residents of the two localities, with the former accusing the latter of harassing women in their streets. It was the last straw for Syrian Churches, which have adopted unprecedented precautionary measures ahead of Easter.
