The Jordanian military announced Saturday that it intercepted 222 missiles and drones out of 240 launched by Tehran toward the kingdom since the start of the war pitting Israel and the United States against Iran.

In a statement, it said that "the total number of missiles and drones fired toward the kingdom since the start of the war amounts to 240."

"The air force managed to intercept and destroy 222 missiles and drones, while the defenses were unable to intercept 18," it added, noting that 36 projectiles were launched at the country during the third week of the conflict.

On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched a major military operation against Iran, which, in retaliation, started launching its missiles and drones at several countries in the region, mainly in the Gulf, claiming to target American interests.
