Hezbollah paid tribute and offered its condolences Wednesday to the Islamic Republic of Iran after the death of one of the regime's pillars, Supreme National Security Council chief Ali Larijani, who was killed in an Israeli strike on Tuesday.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran, which is today facing the barbaric American-Zionist aggression, against a backdrop of international conspiracies against it, is sacrificing its martyrs and high leaders in this sacred struggle ... Through its historic resistance and perseverance, it is thwarting all the plans, colonial projects, expansionist and divisive schemes that the U.S.-Zionist enemy is trying to impose to enslave the peoples of the region, plunder their resources, and completely dominate their present and future," Hezbollah said.

"We in Hezbollah condemn this cowardly assassination and the ongoing criminal U.S.-Israeli aggression, and affirm that the murder of leaders will not break the will of the Islamic Republic, nor the determination of its leadership, its people, and its fighters. The Islamic Republic will remain the pillar of the project resisting American hegemony and Zionist expansion, whatever the sacrifices," the pro-Iranian party stated.

On Tuesday, the Israeli army also killed the commander of the Basij militia, Gholamreza Soleimani, in the same strikes.

Since Feb. 28, the date of the first American-Israeli strikes on Iran, several senior Iranian officials have been targeted. On that day, the Israeli army targeted Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, as well as Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Mohammad Pakpour.
