According to converging diplomatic sources:After the outbreak of the war against Iran, the United States held security meetings with Syrian and Israeli officials to pressure Damascus into intervening in the Bekaa and striking Hezbollah. Syrian authorities rejected these demands, with backing from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, all of which encouraged Damascus to hold its ground.
