Anger erupted in Bahrain following the U.S.-Israeli assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with protests breaking out across several cities on March 1 against the two allies' military campaign in Iran. The demonstrations reflect deeper grievances in a country already strained by economic hardship and public opposition to the Abraham Accords. Bahrain, host to the U.S. Fifth Fleet, also became a direct target in the conflict when Iranian missile strikes on the first day killed two people.Authorities quickly moved to reassert control. According to Salam for Democracy and Human Rights, around 100 people have been arrested for protesting the war or filming Iranian strikes and sharing the footage on social media. Those detained include Bahraini citizens and migrant workers, among them five Pakistanis and one Bangladeshi....
