Hezbollah announced Saturday that it had launched a large number of attacks against the Israeli army in southern Lebanon, as reports from the Axios website indicated that Israel is preparing a massive ground invasion of Lebanon.
The militia party said it targeted, with a rocket barrage on Saturday at 7:30 a.m., a gathering of Israeli soldiers on Aqaba Hill in the border town of Maroun al-Ras, according to its 16th statement of the day. It added that it had targeted the Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona with rockets at 5 a.m. (15th statement).
The 14th statement said that volleys of rockets were fired at 4:45 a.m., for the second time, at a gathering of soldiers on Al-Khazzan Hill in the border town of Odaisseh. The group had earlier carried out rocket attacks at 4:20 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. against a military gathering on the same hill (12th and 13th statements).
In its 11th statement, Hezbollah claimed artillery attacks at 4 a.m. against a gathering of soldiers at Hamoussiyé, west of Blida. Earlier, it claimed rocket fire against the Israeli town of Matla at 3:45 a.m. (10th statement), as well as a rocket attack at 2:30 a.m. against the Ein Zeitim base north of the Israeli city of Safed (9th statement).
Hezbollah also announced that it targeted an Israeli armored vehicle at 1:50 a.m. at the Khiam detention center with a guided missile, hitting the target directly (7th statement). In its 8th statement, it reported another rocket strike against a gathering of vehicles and soldiers around the Khiam prison.
The group also claimed a rocket attack at 12:40 a.m. against the newly established Israeli position at Nimr al-Jamal, opposite the border village of Alma el-Chaab (6th statement). In its 5th statement, Hezbollah announced that at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, it fired a barrage of rockets at a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the Balat Al-Moustahdath site in the south.
Hezbollah also claimed (4th statement) a suicide drone squadron attack against Ein Shimer (a missile air defense base, 75 km from the Lebanese border, east of Hadera) on Friday at 9:45 p.m. And earlier, it claimed an attack by a suicide drone squadron (3rd statement) against the Stella Maris base on Friday at 7 p.m. This is a strategic maritime surveillance base on the northern coast.
In its first statement Saturday, Hezbollah said it targeted at 12:15 a.m., with a barrage of rockets, a gathering of Israeli soldiers near the Khiam municipality. According to its 2nd statement, it fired a barrage of rockets at 12:10 a.m. against a military gathering in Maroun al-Ras.
On the night between Friday and Saturday, the Israeli army reported that Iran and Hezbollah had conducted a joint missile barrage, while sirens sounded in central and northern Israel as well as in the occupied West Bank, according to the daily Haaretz. No casualties were reported.
