Italy offers €10M aid for war-hit communities

BEIRUT — Italy announced 10 million euros in humanitarian aid Friday to support communities affected by the Hezbollah-Israel conflict, following a meeting with Lebanese officials and United Nations representatives.

According to a statement from the Italian Embassy, two million euros are allocated to the OCHA Humanitarian Fund (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs), another two million euros to the Red Cross, and 6 million euros to NGOs operating in Lebanon.

In addition, a humanitarian flight carrying 30 tons of supplies for displaced people (medicines, food, and sanitary and hygiene materials) is expected to land in Beirut next week.

The conflict that resumed on March 2, 2026, has already claimed 773 lives, including 103 children, and injured 1,933, according to the latest figures from the Health Ministry. It has so far displaced more than 800,000 people.
