Ali Berro, a journalist for Hezbollah's al-Manar channel, was reportedly arrested Friday by the Internal Security Forces' (ISF) intelligence branch, according to the state-run National News Agency (NNA).

Attorney General at the Court of Cassation Jamal Hajjar issued a search warrant for Berro at the end of January, after he refused to appear before the public prosecutor. Berro was supposed to be questioned regarding remarks deemed offensive toward the president.

He was arrested in relation to the same case, the NNA reported.

Contacted by L'Orient-Le Jour, the ISF were not available for comment.

Known for his provocative statements, Berro published a video in January on Instagram, filmed on the road leading to Baabda Presidential Palace, calling on residents of the South, whose homes were destroyed by Israeli attacks, to "move into Baabda palace," adding it "needs a bit of cleaning."

"Your homes in the South are cleaner, but this will do," he said.
