What if Israel did not exist?

The worst part is that we already know what comes next. Israel will bomb. It will kill civilians. It will destroy buildings, villages, and neighborhoods. It will invade south Lebanon. Then it will occupy it for years, perhaps decades.And people will say — some are already saying it — that this was its plan from the beginning, that the Lebanese government is too weak and cannot protect the south, that it is necessary to “resist” the occupier, and that, deep down, even if it is not always said openly, Israel is the cause of all our ills: our weakness, our divisions, our inability to become a nation and to build a state worthy of the name.
