A government source told L’OLJ on Saturday that it is "very likely" the conference to support the Lebanese army and the Internal Security Forces (ISF), scheduled for Thursday in Paris, will be postponed.
Paris was expected to host an international conference on March 5 aimed at raising funds to strengthen Lebanon's army and Internal Security Forces, which lack sufficient financial resources and equipment. This aid is considered crucial at a time when the Lebanese army is seeking to disarm the Iran-backed Hezbollah. Without decent salaries, Lebanese soldiers have been forced to take on additional jobs on top of their military duties.
