That was the rallying cry of around fifty activists gathered at Ahmad Souab's home after his surprise release on Feb. 23, reports Loubna Sidi, director of Action and Education in Human Rights at Amnesty Tunisia. For the Tunisian opposition, the lawyer’s release feels like a bittersweet victory. He was arrested and convicted for criticizing the lack of judicial independence in the so-called “conspiracy against state security” case, a highly political trial. On appeal, his sentence was reduced from five years in prison to ten months behind bars and a two-year suspended term.
