Lebanese forces in Syria: More than a courtesy visit

But ever since the fall of the Assad regime (on Dec. 8, 2024), opening channels of communication between Damascus and Meerab has become possible. It is in this context that the party chief, Samir Geagea, sent Melhem Riashi, a current MP and one of his closest associates, along with Tony Darwish, a member of the party's foreign affairs department, to the Syrian capital on Wednesday. They met with the Syrian Information Minister, Hamza Moustapha. The very first contact between the two sides has been established.
