BEIRUT — The National Litani Water Authority announced Tuesday that it filed a complaint against Concord Household Appliances for “serious environmental violations and encroachments on the Ghozayel riverbed,” after dismantled appliances were dumped into the river in the Rawda municipality.
Images of these dismantled refrigerators in the bed of the Ghozayel River, a Litani tributary in the Bekaa, have cause uproar since Saturday.
The Litani Authority, which had condemned this "illegal and uncontrolled recycling" by nonprofessional contractors in a statement published that day, had pledged to take legal action against the company itself "if its responsibility was established."
In the complaint, the Litani Authority plans to add the report proving violations and the company's responsibility, "based on samples collected on Feb. 6, 2026."
