President Joseph Aoun welcomed the signing of 21 agreements between Lebanon and Jordan during a meeting Thursday with Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan at the Presidential Palace in Baabda.

Hassan arrived in Beirut on Wednesday to take part in the eighth session of the Lebanese-Jordanian Higher Joint Commission, which was held at the Grand Serail in the presence of his Lebanese counterpart, Nawaf Salam, and resulted in the signing of 21 agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries.

Aoun thanked Jordan for its "continued support to Lebanon in all fields, notably the army." He emphasized the importance of the agreements signed the previous day at the Grand Serail.

"Jordan supports Lebanon and is keen to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. The signed agreements and memoranda show the importance of the close relationship," said the Jordanian prime minister. Hassan then went to Ain al-Tineh for a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

The agreements signed with Jordan involve at least 14 ministries from both countries and cover a wide range of sectors: industrial cooperation, consumer protection, exchange of tax expertise, promotion and protection of investments, coordination on social security between the Jordanian and Lebanese funds, digital transformation and information technologies, civil service and civil defense, as well as electricity, natural gas, renewable energy, environment, tourism, media, infrastructure (roads, bridges, buildings), housing, public procurement, and railway transport.
