BEIRUT — An Israeli drone strike on a car along the road linking Tibnin to Safad al-Batikh, in the Bint Jbeil district, killed two people on Sunday evening.

The victims were the driver and a passerby along the road, L'Orient Today's correspondent reported. The Health Ministry confirmed the strike killed two Lebanese civilians.

The targeted car was completely burned, according to videos obtained by our correspondent. The Israeli army claimed it had targeted a Hezbollah fighter, without providing further details, Israeli media reported.

Around an hour later, another Israeli drone dropped incendiary bombs on the outskirts of Blida (Marjayoun), causing fires, our correspondent added.

Separately, two loud explosions were reported overnight in south Lebanon. At midnight Sunday, residents of Khiam (Marjayoun) heard a powerful blast coming from an Israeli position in the occupied area of Tallet al-Hamames, south of the town. The cause of the explosion remains undetermined.

Another loud explosion was heard in Houla (Marjayoun) and nearby localities at around 2 a.m. This was accompanied by Israeli drones flying over the area, which may have dropped bombs toward the village, our correspondent said.

In the Bekaa, drones flying at medium altitude were reported over the northern outskirts of Baalbeck, reaching as far as the towns of Nahleh and Younin, according to our correspondent.

Meanwhile, U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert began a visit to Israel on Sunday as part of her regular consultations with parties involved in implementing U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701. During the visit, she is scheduled to meet senior Israeli officials “to discuss ways to strengthen the implementation of Resolution 1701 and the cease-fire agreement that entered into force in November 2024,” her office said in a statement.
