BEIRUT — Lebanese Foreign Minister Joe Rajji inquired Saturday, during a phone call with Lebanon’s ambassador to Caracas, about the situation of Lebanese expatriates in Venezuela.

The minister's move came after the United States bombed the Venezuelan capital and its surroundings during the night from Friday to Saturday and captured and exfiltrated President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

Rajji immediately tasked Ambassador Nisrine Bou Karam to “closely monitor the living conditions of members of the Lebanese community and take all necessary measures to ensure their protection in case of emergency.”

He also called on Lebanese residents in Venezuela to contact the embassy immediately if they are facing a critical situation, at the following number: +58 422-2477777.
