BEIRUT — The General Directorate of General Security warned on Wednesday residents of the "dangers of interacting with the page “Unit 504” on social media platforms, noting that the page aims to recruit individuals for Israel.

"The page conducts electronic intelligence activities aimed at recruiting individuals in favor of the enemy", the statement noted. "The Directorate warns that it will hold anyone who interacts with these pages accountable in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations," it added.

The page, which publishes posts in Arabic, has been active on all platforms since Nov. 11. It has 393 followers on Facebook, 147 on Instagram and 18 on X. It describes itself as the "official page Human Intelligence Unit" in the Israeli army.

In its first post, the page said that it was created to "open the door to those who believe they have what it takes" to join the ranks of the Israeli army. It also claimed that its officers and personnel "operate on distant fronts, building complex relationships and recruiting sources."

Another Facebook page, operating under the name "The Mossad," has been asking people in Lebanon to contact them for years.

Lebanon's 1955 law on boycotting Israel prohibits interaction between Lebanese and Israelis. It prohibits any individual or legal entity from entering into contact with Israelis or people residing in Israel. It also prohibits all commercial, financial and other transactions. The penalty for violating this law is three to ten years of hard labor.

Citing a judicial official, AFP reported in October that over the past months, Lebanese authorities arrested 32 people found guilty or suspected of passing information to Israel aimed at targeting Hezbollah leaders. The judicial official noted that six of them were arrested before the cease-fire agreement that was reached in November 2024 after more than 13 months of war between Hezbollah and Israel.
