It took law enforcement almost two years to arrest two suspects in an infant trafficking case who, in the meantime, continued their daily lives. On Nov. 26 and Dec. 8, State Security arrested gynecologist J.F., 66, and former mokhtar (local official in charge of records) D.S., 55, respectively, in Saida.Both are accused of the “illegal sale and transfer of newborns by falsifying birth certificates and civil status documents,” according to official statements released after their arrests.They were subject to arrest warrants issued in absentia on April 3 and April 29, 2024, and were indicted on Nov. 13, 2024, by then–Mount Lebanon investigating judge Ziad Dghaidi.The case dates back to 2023, when the two men allegedly acted in coordination with N.S., head of "Village de paix et d'amour" association in Mansourieh, in the Metn...
