Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said Monday, during a meeting with a delegation from "Blue Peace" in the Middle East, that "the region is now at a decisive turning point, in a context marked by worsening challenges related to climate change, water scarcity, demographic pressures and environmental degradation."

He warned that these factors now "threaten the stability of societies" and constitute "transboundary challenges that no country can face alone," according to Al Markazia.

In this context, he emphasized that the "Blue Peace" initiative draws its importance from its ability to "turn water into a bridge between peoples, a platform for dialogue and a driver of cooperation," seeing it as "a true promise of peace for future generations."

A regional nongovernmental initiative, "Blue Peace," aims to strengthen cooperation around water across borders, sectors and generations.

The head of government assured that "Lebanon fully adheres to this vision, with conviction and commitment," affirming the country's desire to be "an active partner" in this initiative.

He stated that true cooperation relies on the establishment of "integrated water resources management, a concept that Lebanon was the first to introduce in the Arab world."

He concluded by saying that Lebanon will continue its collaboration with neighbors and partners in order to "strengthen scientific governance, anchor water diplomacy and support regional stability through joint cooperation."
