Gunfire from an unknown source wounded several American and Syrian soldiers on Saturday while they were part of a joint delegation in the desert area of Palmyra, Syria, according to the official Syrian news agency SANA.
The agency reported that “several members of the American forces were injured, as well as two members of the Syrian security forces” during a “joint patrol” in the area, which was previously controlled by the Islamic State. SANA added that “the perpetrator of the shooting was killed.”
