Z. A. B., a Lebanese national, was arrested in mid-November after attempting to dispose of her son S. D. M.'s body, who died by strangulation and was "about 19 years old," by leaving it on the side of a road in the locality of Ghadir (Kesrouan) the following day, according to an Internal Security Forces (ISF) statement released Friday.
After the body was examined by the forensic doctor, it was determined that the cause of death had been "an act of strangulation."
During questioning, the mother stated that she "found her son (S. D. M.) hanging on the door of his room" when she returned home to Amchit (Jbeil) on the afternoon of Nov. 13.
"She reportedly took him down and, after making sure he was deceased, left the house, leaving the body on the floor. She added that she had refrained from reporting the incident to avoid her arrest, knowing she would be wanted by the law," according to her undated testimony reported by the authorities. Born in 1990, the mother was subject to an arrest warrant for theft, the ISF clarified in their statement.
"She then returned after midnight and asked her neighbors for help to load her son's body into her car, telling them he was having a health crisis and that she needed to take him to the hospital. She headed towards Harissa, where she tried to dump the body in a forest, but, unable to lift it, left it on the roadside before going to her friend's house in Koura (North Lebanon) to hide, without her friend knowing the truth," the authorities said.
The young man's body was found on Nov. 14, in the locality of Ghadir, "lying on the ground."
Investigations by the authorities showed that a "Volkswagen vehicle had arrived at the scene where the body was discovered at dawn on 14/11/2025," belonging to Z. A. B. "After reconnaissance and close surveillance," she was arrested on Nov. 15 at her friend's house in Koura.
Appropriate legal measures were taken against the mother, who was handed over to the competent authorities on the instruction of the judiciary, the ISF said.
