BEIRUT — The Lebanese police announced in a statement on Thursday the arrest of a man described as "one of the biggest promoters of illegal online gambling."
M.A.M., born in 1975 and of Lebanese nationality, was taken into custody on Dec. 8 in the Sfeir area during an operation carried out jointly by a patrol from the Anti-Gambling Bureau and the Mount Lebanon Intelligence Brigade.
Phones, computers, and electronic equipment were seized, and the investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the relevant judicial authority, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) said in their statement.
According to ISF, this operation was made possible thanks to the successive arrests of other members of the network, whose activities spanned several regions in North Lebanon and Hermel (Northeast).
