An 18-year-old Palestinian was killed Sunday in the West Bank by the Israeli army after allegedly "throwing stones," according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The victim was identified as Mou'men Abu Riach, who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the village of Azour, near Qalqiya in the western part of the occupied Palestinian territory.

Another Palestinian was "seriously wounded" in the incident, and a third was arrested. The Palestinian Red Crescent said the Israeli army prevented its teams from reaching the scene of the shooting, delaying their ability to attend to the victims for several hours, according to the Wafa news agency.

The Israeli army subsequently issued a statement claiming that Abu Riach had "thrown stones" at its soldiers before they opened fire, according to Haaretz.
