BEIRUT — The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said it has counted more than "10,000 Israeli air and ground violations" since the cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel was implemented on Nov. 27, 2024.
Unifil called for respect for Security Council Resolution 1701, one year to the day after the truce took effect.
"One year ago, the cessation of hostilities agreement went into effect, reaffirming the commitment to Security Council Resolution 1701 as a path to stability. Since then, Unifil has worked with its partners to help ensure stability in southern Lebanon. Over the past year, peacekeepers have continued their patrols, supported the redeployment of the Lebanese Army and its operations to ensure the monopoly of weapons south of the Litani, contributed to opening roads and eliminating hazards, and facilitated activities supporting reconstruction efforts," the U.N. force said in a statement.
"However, many challenges remain: unauthorized weapons and equipment are being found, the Israeli army maintains positions in Lebanese territory, and more than 10,000 air and ground violations have been recorded in the past twelve months," UNIFIL said.
"Full respect for Resolution 1701 remains the only path to lasting calm. Civilians living along the Blue Line have suffered greatly as a result of these hostilities, and their safety, as well as the region's stability, must remain an absolute priority," the statement concluded.
According to data analyzed by L’Orient-Le Jour, Israel has violated the truce agreement more than 12,000 times, killing 343 people, including 136 civilians, between Nov. 27, 2024 and Nov. 14, 2025.
