Hezbollah has confirmed the death of military chief Tabataba'i in an Israeli strike on Sunday in the southern suburbs of Beirut, according to a statement.
"With pride and honor, Hezbollah announces to the people of the resistance and the Lebanese people the great commander martyr Haytham Ali Tabataba'i [nicknamed Abou Ali], who fell as a martyr for Lebanon and its people following a treacherous Israeli aggression against the Haret Hreik area in the southern suburb of Beirut," the statement read.
The strike killed at least five people and injured 28.
