Hezbollah financing: Exchange offices are a ‘big part of the problem,’ says US Treasury representative
The U.S. Treasury is also convinced that certain banks, knowingly or not, are facilitating Hezbollah-linked transfers, according to Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John Hurley.

On the sidelines of his visit to Lebanon, U.S. Undersecretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John Hurley said the American administration considers that exchange companies and offices represent a large part of the problem related to Hezbollah’s financing.Hurley is part of a larger U.S. delegation specializing in sanctions and counterterrorism, which arrived in Lebanon late last week to discuss ways to cut off Hezbollah’s funding sources.Hurley spoke on Monday with several media outlets, including L’Orient-Le Jour, at the U.S. Embassy, during a meeting intended to outline the delegation’s main messages.
