A Gaza Civil Defense official told Al Jazeera that two people were killed by an Israeli drone strike targeting the town of Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Palestinian enclave.
The Israeli army confirmed in a statement that it had killed two individuals "who crossed the Yellow Line in the southern Gaza Strip," claiming they "posed an immediate threat" to its soldiers.
Local Al Jazeera correspondents later reported that a child was among the two victims.
This brings to 243 the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza by the Israeli army since a month-long cease-fire ended.
