SOUTH LEBANON — An Israeli drone dropped three missiles on a pickup truck on Sunday morning, killing a civilian driver traveling between Sawaneh and Khirbet Silm, in the Bint Jbeil district.

The Health Ministry confirmed the death of the driver, identified as Hassan Ali Jamil Sultan.

Shortly after, Israeli machine gun fire struck the outskirts of Alma al-Shaab in the Sour district.

Sultan's death brings the number of people killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon over the past week to 14. On Saturday, the Israeli army continued its daily attacks across southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, killing three Hezbollah members and injuring 10 others. This came two days after a particularly heavy wave of assaults in southern Lebanon.

The strikes come despite a cease-fire signed on Nov. 27, 2024, following 13 months of an attrition war between Hezbollah and Israel. More than 300 people have been reported killed in Lebanon since the cease-fire, according to a tally based on Health Ministry and United Nations figures. In recent weeks, Israeli attacks have intensified amid threats of large-scale military escalation and rising diplomatic tensions over potential direct talks between Lebanese and Israeli officials.
