The Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the official death toll from the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian enclave since Oct. 7, 2023, now stands at 69,169, following the identification of new victims and the discovery of additional bodies under the rubble.
The ministry said in a statement that 284 more people were recently added to the cumulative total after their identities were verified. Nearly a month after the cease-fire between Hamas and Israel, authorities in the Gaza Strip continue to recover bodies from the devastated territory despite limited equipment and resources.
Over the past three days, ten new bodies were transported to Gaza hospitals, including nine recovered from under rubble, along with one newly killed person, as well as six injured, the ministry specified.
A large number of Palestinians are still missing amid the immense devastation caused by the Israeli offensive, “as ambulances and civil defense teams have not yet been able to reach them,” the statement concluded.
