The entire crew of the Malta-flagged products tankers Hellas Aphrodite are safe after pirates failed to take control of the vessel which was sailing off Somalia, an official at maritime security firm Diaplous told Reuters.
A team from a European Union warship has arrived at the scene and has boarded the vessel with its 24 seafarers onboard, a company official added.
The pirates most likely had left the vessel earlier, the Diaplous official said.
