More than four years after the assassination of intellectual and anti-Hezbollah activist Lokman Slim, which took place on Feb. 3, 2021, the foundation bearing his name continues its commitment to ending the culture of impunity in Lebanon.For the past two years, it has focused in particular on bringing together the families of victims of political assassinations, along with legal experts and activists determined to see justice prevail for such crimes.It is within this framework that the National Coalition Against Political Assassinations, al-Manara [Arabic for lighthouse/beacon], was launched on Tuesday at the Beirut Bar Association, in cooperation with the Bar Association led by Fadi Masri, the Heinrich Böll Foundation, UMAM Documentation & Research, and the publishing house Dar al-Jadeed.
